Press Release, April 2016
Twin Tier Community Band Seeking New Members
The Twin Tier Community Band (TTCB) invites musicians to become members of this concert group. The band is a volunteer wind ensemble, or concert band. Openings exist in all band sections, but we particularly need to add to our percussion and horn sections. There is no audition requirement. Just a wish to play! Members range in age from 15 to 60-plus, a true intergenerational experience that all band members truly enjoy. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome. Our members are from the southern tier of New York and the northern tier of Pennsylvania.
The TTCB is active year-round sharing their talents and bringing the sound of live concert band music to surrounding communities. TTCB performs at several summer concert-in-the-park series along with other special events. Our repertoire is wide-ranging including marches, show turns, popular songs, contemporary compositions and classical band literature. All of our concerts are free and open to the public making an afternoon or evening of live music affordable and family-friendly.
Once you leave school you may think there is no place to play, then you hear a community band and you think, “I haven’t played in years. I could never do that.” But we assure you, you can. Dust off that horn and come enjoy the fun of making music. Anyone interested in joining the band should come and sit in on a rehearsal. Bring your instrument!
The Twin Tier Community Band rehearses on Saturday mornings from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Eldred United Methodist Church, 24 Main St., Eldred, PA 16731. The band is grateful to the church for the use of their space. For more information visit our website, www.ttcband.com or contact Diane Smith at [email protected].
Come join us in preserving an American musical tradition: the community band. It’s when you finish playing a piece and the audience applauds. Your music made them happy, it makes you happy. That’s what community band is all about. Come join us.
